Dr Ibrahim B Syed - Born in Bellary, South India to Mr B Syed Ahmed and Mrs. Mumtaz Begum. Received his academic education at the University of Mysore, Bhabha Atomic Research Center(Bombay University), Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where he obtained his Doctor of Science degree in 1972 in Radiological Sciences.
He is a founding member of the Islamic Society of Baltimore, First President of the Islamic Society of Springfield, Massachusetts and former Vice President and Chairman of the Board of the Islamic Cultural Association of Louisville, Kentucky. He also served as Treasurer and Secretary of the Association of Muslim Scientists and Engineers of North America. Currently he is a member of the Islamic Medical Association of North America and formerly a member of the Editorial Board of its Journal (JIMA). At present he is serving as President of the Islamic Research Foundation, located in Louisville, Kentucky. He contributes regularly to the Science and Health page in the Muslim Journal published from Chicago. He has published over 85 articles on Qur'an and Science in several Islamic Magazines in North America and other Muslim countries. Dr Syed has visited many cities in North America and abroad to present his color slide lectures on "In Search of Truth through Quran and Science", "Human Embryology in the Quran", "Quran and Science: Cosmology", "Modern Cosmological Principle confirms Quranic Revelations", "Quranic Foundations of the Anthropic Principles", "Quran and Science: the Origin of Life", The Intellectual Achievements of Muslims", "Scientific Evidence in Oneness (Tawhid) of God (Allah)", "Second Law of Thermodynamics - Islamic Perspective", "Spiritual Medicine in Islam". He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Health Physics and served as an Examiner to both of the National Examination Boards. He served as a Technical Expert in Nuclear Medicine of the International Atomic Energy Agency located in Vienna, Austria and was assigned to the Republic of Bangladesh for two months in 1986. He is also a Ph.D. Thesis Examiner to Institutions of Higher Learning.
Dr. Syed is an educator and is a Professor of Nuclear Medicine and a Clinical Professor of Medicine (Medical Physics, Nuclear Cardiology, Endocrinology, Metabolism and Radionuclide Studies) all at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, Kentucky. He was elected a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (London, UK), Fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, Fellow of the Royal Society of Health (London, UK). He was awarded a Ph.D (Doctor of Philosophy) degree Honoris Causa by an International University in Malta. He is listed in Who's Who in the World; The American Men and Women of Science; Who's Who in Science and Engineering; Who's Who in the Frontiers of Science and Technology; Who's Who in American Education; Who's Who in Health and Medicine, Who's Who in America, and a dozen more national and international Biographical Works of Reference. He is Commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky. He is a Notary Public in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was ordained as a Minister and Licensed to perform Islamic marriages (Qadi/Kazi) in the State of Kentucky. He is serving as a Volunteer Muslim Chaplain in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville and also in the Correctional Institutions throughout the State of Kentucky.
He is frequently invited to speak on Islam at local Churches, High Schools, Social Clubs and Professional Organizations. He is interviewed on local T.V. stations and news media on matters pertaining to Islam.
He is looking forward to the publication of his research work in the form of two books entitled "Quran and Modern Science" and "The Intellectual Achievements of Muslims".
